Folks,
With my apologies to Colin, I don't think this is a really good book. I just don't like the writing style: it reads like poor biography. Having said that , it is a clear and convincing work documenting and damning our own government. It shows a massive disregard and callousness to those who lived in New Orleans. I note this morning we are sending 2000 war hardend Marines to Haiti with many ships and massive aid. Why couldn't we have done that in New Orleans? I don't think we can blame all of this on Bush JR. Anyone who voted for Gore is responsible for this moral failure.

(a) you're wrong, and should try to hide your poor taste in literature so as not to shame the rest of the Taylors (just kidding), and
ReplyDelete(b) I think you mean "Nader" instead of Gore, right? Gore's work with FEMA from '93-'01 was one of the bigger success stories of that period.
Maybe he meant Denny Lane (Grassroots Party), Howard Phillips (Constitution Party), John Hagelin (Natural Law Party), or Dave Barry (I-Florida, write-in). I am taking youngest son Peter to the airport tomorrow to spend a few days in New Orleans. I am sure he will spend most of his time surveying the rebuilding, and will have a full report for us on this return.

Colin,
ReplyDeleteFreudian slip; Nader.

I am looking forward to Peter's comments. The disaster in Hiati certainly sounds even worse than our book read. I only wonder what I could do for them, nothing, so I just do what I can and that is to pray. grandma barb
ReplyDeleteColin,
ReplyDeleteI have just got now to the part where they believe he's Al Queda and it is getting better; I may change my opinion on the book
